Helpful kids

As a mother, you do your best to teach your children. Recently, I have been attempting to teach them how to help out around the house, and "provident liveng" for lack of a better word.

The other day, I asked the older two if they would help me fold the kitchen towels. Not surprisingly, the jumped at the chance! It was so cute to watch how Anderson was teaching Aspen how to do it. "You fold the big ones into a rectangle, and you fold the little ones into a square."--he was taught well.

On Tuesdays, the store mailer comes in the mail. Anderson, especially likes to look at it to see if there are any "treats" on sale, bacause he knows that we only get them if they're on sale (and if I have a coupon that goes with it ;)

I couldn't be more proud!

2009 New Year's Resolutions

As a family, 2008 has been a great year. We have accomplished many things...new job, new baby, ran a marathon! We have also learned a lot! 2009 will be a test of that knowledge. Hopefully we can do better. Here are our resolutions:
Adam: "to get at brain"...or, rather, to fill it with more information....or, hope it doesn't explode, and leave me looking like my picture! This year, I will be working on getting my administrative teaching liscence, as well as heading up a brand new Varsity Girl's soccer Program, and teaching PE at Westlake High School. I would also like to better my time in the St. George Marathon.
Arianne: One word, "sensitivity." I am working really hard this year at being less sensitive. I tend to overthink things, and read too much into what people do and say. I need to let things just roll off my back. Also, I would like to be MORE sensitive to the people in my family. I want to be able to pay more attention to what they need, and how I can take care of those needs.
Anderson : TURN 5! Every day, Anderson asks, "am I 5?" He says, "when I'm 5, I get to go to the big school, ride a bike with no training wheels, play soccer, go to Lake Powell, and I will see Molly Paul and the twins again!" All of that will happen when he is 5, so that is his resolution....to turn 5!
Aspen: To be a big sister! She already is, but all she talks about is being a big sister....Again? No, I'm not announcing anything! She is such a great big sister, and we are so grateful for her.
Ace: We have had a big year for Ace, full of all sorts of new things. Heck, he was potty trained at 22 months! If I were to make one for him, it would be to grow into his head! He is constantly diving head first into things, because he is so darn top heavy! Still cute, if I don't say so, myself!
Aussie: This year will be full of new things for Aussie....first steps, first word, first birthday. I'd say, he's got enough great things he will do this year!
Resolutions or not, I'm sure this year will be filled with lots of ups, downs, and all-arounds. We will just all have our goals in sight, and keep on keepin' on. That's what we do!

Some Pics from Preschool

I have really enjoyed teaching preschool from our home. One of my favorite things about it is watching how our kids interact with the others, and how different sides of them begin to emerge.
Here's Aussie sitting with the big kids at story time. (I think he was eating a gram cracker.) It was too cute!

Eating cupcakes on Ace's birthday. Do you notice the girl eying him in the background? He is quite the ladies man!

The other day, I was trying to take a picture of Anderson, and what do you know?...He wouldn't let me! So, here is what happened when I was chasing him around the entire upstairs, thrying to snap a shot.
You can run, but you can't hide!

Gotcha!

Oh, yeah, and I failed to mention, that it was a Sunday morning, while we were getting ready for church. My little chase around the house caused us to be late. Oh well, O got some fun pics out of it!

Rub-a-Dub-Dub...Kids in the Tub!

I love the tub! Many times, with 4 kids (4 and under), they get unruly, wild, and a little out of hand. When this happens, I need something that is going to make all of them happy. That "something" is the bathtub.
Ace and Aussie play and play.

The 3 older ones took the toy bucket, and decided that it would be a good idea to sit in it. What you don't see, is the pool of water all over the floor! You win some, you lose some, I guess.
